Hampi Tour in One Day

In Hampi, there are many elegant places like ancient buildings, relics, and religious sites to visit. Hampi is famous for its ruins, there are many ruins scattered in a vast area and there are many ways to visit the ruins, historic Temples and tourist spots. To cover as many places as possible in one day then it is best to hire a motorcycle/moped or a car with a guide since it covers the long stretches faster and also the guide will help in covering the key monuments and by showing the right path.

For a one day tour preferring motorcycle is a good idea, it is best to cover nook and corner of the ruins where cars can’t do. The next advantage of motorcycle is that it can be ferried in Coracle Dongis to cross the river. Normally the charges for motorcycle is between Rs.200 to 400 (depending upon the type of vehicle) plus the standard fuel cost Rs.55 per litre, but the vehicle rental shops cost Rs.75 per litre. Always make sure that enough fuel is filled, 3 litre of petrol is more than enough for a day. It is best to take reference from your guest house for hiring a motorcycle.

Tourist Places in Hampi

If starting a tour without a guide then begin y from Hampi your journey from the bus stand and first visit Kadalekalu and Sasivekalu Ganesha Temples and take a stepped path behind these temples to reach and explore Hemakuta hill then reach Nandi Bull and to Virupaksha Temple (oldest temple in Hampi) from northern entrance tower of the hill and then reach Hampi Bazaar which is opposite to Virupaksha Temple.

Once completed, travel two kilometers east to reach Vittala Temple and enjoy historic Stone Chariot (Most Iconic structure in Hampi) and Vittala Temple, and trek across the Mathunga hill (Highest point in Hampi) to explore Achyuta Raya’s Temple. Proceed towards Kodandarama temple and reach Hampi Bazaar again, in between explore some small shrines like Varaha Temple, Sugreeva’s Cave and Narasimha Temple.

Have a break here in Hampi Bazaar and take time for lunch and proceed towards Royal Center to enjoy Stepped Tank which has very ornate design and then explore Underground Siva Temple, Krishna Temple and Lakshmi Narasimha Temples on the go and reach Zenena Enclosure. After exploring wonderful and famous monuments like Elephant Stables and Lotus Mahal in Zenena Enclosure, visit Hazara Rama Temple which is famous for its carvings in the Temple wall and Queen’s Bath. After all, if time permits drive a bit or cross Tungabadra River using 'Coracle Dongi' to reach Kamalapura and visit Archaeological museum, it’s a tiny museum but worth visiting.
